Chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) means blood is not flowing efficiently from your legs back to your heart. It is the reason varicose veins come back when only the surface is treated, and it is why we look at the whole vein system before recommending anything.

What is chronic venous insufficiency?
Chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) is impaired blood flow from the legs back to the heart. When vein valves stop working properly, blood pools in the legs, which can cause aching, swelling, varicose veins, skin changes, and in advanced cases ulcers.
What is the best treatment for varicose veins?
It depends on the vein. Sclerotherapy works well for smaller varicose veins, while endovenous laser ablation (EVLT) treats larger, faulty veins above the knee. A consultation and ultrasound help match the treatment to your veins.
Are varicose veins a medical or cosmetic problem?
They can be both. Varicose veins are sometimes only cosmetic, but they often cause aching, heaviness, and swelling and can signal underlying vein disease. Spider veins, by contrast, are usually cosmetic.
